The choral music library of the DCfC was specifically created for practical choir work. The focus was primarily on practical rehearsal work. Especially the variety of performance materials and their comparability, the possibility for quick research, and the chance to discover the unknown are special features of this institution.
Long waits for the procurement of a complete preview copy and the often pointless study of a partially visible PDF score on the internet can be avoided in many cases by visiting the DCfC.
450,000 choral works from all over the world, a cappella or accompanied, guarantee the visitor successful, often surprising finds.
When sorting an extensive collection, it is important to find a balance between detail and clarity. This balance was achieved through 35 years of collaboration with choir directors who have expressed their wishes and requirements on-site, and whose feedback has led to a continuous evolution of the systematics.
At the end of every search stands the work!
The following explanation is intended to help the user of the archive with orientation and possibly provide inspiration on how to sensibly organize one’s own private music collection.
I wish the visitor much success and joy while working in the library.
